Our Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for maximizing occupancy and daily rate of the hotel; develops and implements sales goals for the hotel and leads the Sales Department from the front!

The professional we seek should be a good communicator, have exceptional leadership skills to represent the company, be pro-active, loyal, reliable and hard working.  We seek to create a sense of place that will insure, inspire and motivate the overall Sales Team to meet and exceed pre-determined goals of the hotel.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and direct the development and implementation of strategic sales and marketing plans and initiatives to include, but not limited to, interacting with clients and the media, directing solicitation efforts, securing business operating information management systems, preparing and presenting statistical and performance reports and managing all financial aspects of the operation.
  • Plans and implements Sales Blitzes to target new business and create product awareness.
  • Follows up to all leads in a timely manner or delegates accordingly.
  • Develops and facilitates sales and marketing presentations for prospective clients.
  • Recommends booking goals for sales team members.
  • Develops and manages group sales revenue and operation budgets, and provides forecasting reports.
  • Partner with the Revenue Management team to include, but not limited to, determining sales pricing strategies, developing rates, establishing group thresholds, determining space utilization policy, deploying competitive data strategies, conducting demand analysis and managing market mix.
  • Works with management team to create and implement a group sales/marketing plan addressing revenue, customer and market.
  • Establishes competitive set and ensures that the hotel is consistently achieving and or exceeding its fair share based on the STAR report.
  • Assists with selling, implementation and follow-through of group sales promotions.
  • Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked (generating proposal, writing contract & customer correspondence).
  • Participates in and practices daily service basics of the brand Sheraton Hotels and Resorts 
  • Recruit, interview and train team members.
  • Verifies that the property implements a seamless turnover from sales to operations and back to sales while consistently delivering high level of service.
  • Manages the property’s reactive and proactive group sales efforts.
  • Monitors the effective resolution of guest is at arise as a result of the sales process by creating mechanisms to channel issues to property leadership and/or other appropriate stakeholders.
  • Maintains successful performance by increasing revenues, controlling expenses and providing a return on investment for the ownership team.
  • Produces and submits weekly sales recap.
  • Maintains ultimate accountability for verifying that the team maximizes group revenue opportunities by up-selling and accurately forecasting revenues (catering and group rooms) for all events.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.


The Company may consider equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience providing the knowledge, skills and abilities cited below. 

Education and Experience

A four year degree in Hospitality Management or a comparable combination of education and experience.
Must have at least 5 years or more experience in a hotel setting.
Previous DOS experience, preferably in a full-service hotel.
Experience with Marriott Brand (Preferred)
Experience with an independent operator. 
Demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance. 
Strong business acumen, with demonstrated selling, organization, and leadership skills. 
Knowledge in the hotel/travel/tourism industry.
Ability to work under pressure. 
Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations. 
Strong attention to detail. 
Committed to delivering high levels of customer service.
Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events.
